Mend
Mind Exercise Nutrition …. Do it!
Jean Parris-Attfield is a MEND Mind and Nutrition leader and works within communities to promote the mend Programme.
Mend was developed at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children; the MEND Programme is a family-based weight management intervention for children aged 7-13, suitable for delivery in community settings. The MEND Programme equips children, parents and carers, with nutrition, exercise, and behaviour change knowledge and skills to establish and maintain healthy lifestyles.
MEND’S mission is to enable a significant measurable and sustainable reduction in global childhood overweight and obesity levels.
MEND empowers families to build a foundation for healthy living – for life.
In April this year JPA Health Squad (Advanced Personal Trainers), is holding a 3 day residential Activity Fit Camp for ex Mend Students, as a reward for their hard work and achievements.
Activities such as Archery, Abseiling, Zip wire, Circuit training, Low ropes and toboggan rides will install fitness and help self esteem and confidence. It’s guaranteed to be 3 days full of fitness & fun, for these well deserved children although this is the first one to be run of its kind for Mend we hope this will be a regular yearly activity.
