Chris's Story
"I had always been a little self conscious about my weight and fitness but have lacked the will power and time to do something about it. But then last Christmas things came to a head whilst playing with my boys on a beach near Littlehampton. They wanted to play commando, which involved me hunting them whilst they hid amongst the sand dunes. Within a few minutes I was totally out of breath and they were running rings around me.
I knew that a normal gym membership wasn’t the answer as it’s too easy to lose the motivation after a few weeks and stop going. It’s also way too easy to say to yourself that you’ve been to a gym for an hour but in reality you spent 20minutes actually exercising and the rest of the time gossiping with the other members!!! I needed something that wouldn’t let me slip into this pattern of behaviour.
I had met Jean briefly before at a BNI Business Breakfast but then came across her details again through a mutual friend. I checked her rates online and found them very competitive, so made an appointment. With hindsight I can say that I didn’t have any genuine expectation of success before I went along for our first chat, having tried diets and gym memberships before I’ve always found the benefits to be short lived. But we discussed my objectives, measured my stats and weight etc before agreeing a target of losing half a stone.
After my first session I was a wreck!!! I could barely eat breakfast the next day and when I was in bed I felt like I had tennis balls strapped to my arms. But I’d paid for a month and wanted to stick with it. Jean continued to beast me in the gym twice a week and gave me simple fad free dietary advice that was realistic and achievable. We checked my weight regularly for a couple of weeks and nothing much had changed, but then just as I was losing heart a little, a couple of pounds came off. The next week another couple had gone, the corner had been turned and my waist line was starting to shrink.
It took a little while and a lot of effort but I now enjoy our sessions (but don’t let her know!!!) and I have lost nearly a stone and a half. My weight is under control, I feel better than I have for years and most importantly, nobody runs rings around me when I play commando in the sand dunes with my boys anymore. I would heartily recommend Jean and JPA to anyone who is serious about controlling their weight and improving their fitness! Just don’t worry too much about how you feel after the first couple of sessions, it will get better!!!"
